A new version of the RFzero library: https://www.rfzero.net/ has been released. It includes the new FST4W narrow digital mode with its four sub-modes. This enables the RFzero GPS controlled RF source to send FST4W, in addition to WSPR, as a stand alone transmitter.

When sending type 3 messages, i.e. a message with a six character locator e.g. JO65FR, in WSPR the call sign is hashed. This means that instead of sending the call sign a 15 bits hash code is sent. But the hash code is not unique to the specific call sign but "shared" with some other call signs. In such cases hash collision can happen if both transmitting stations are decoded by other stations irrespective of only one of the transmitting stations is sending type 3 messages.

We are very excited to announce the RFzero - a multipurpose Arduino RF platform that can do WSPR from 100 kHz to 1 GHz in a cost effective way and at the same time with a responsible RF spectrum and stability performance.

You can use one of the dozen example programs or tweak them to fit your specific need for WSPR but also for CW, FT8, JT9 or PI4. Soon we will also have an example program for a QO-100 dual LO solution.

If you are looking for a true band hopping WSPR transmitter try out the new S/W for the Next Generation Beacons platform: http://rudius.net/oz2m/ngnb/dds_sw_multimode.htm Then you will be able to hop anywhere from 136 kHz to 1296 MHz. In this release 15 frequencies are possible but as the S/W source code is available too "any" number of frequencies may be possible.

For those of you interested in the Next Generation Beacons project a new software package for the DDS unit has just been released (1.2.0). New features are WSPR-15 among others: http://www.rudius.net/oz2m/ngnb

The Next Generation Beacons platform is open to others and the software can easily be adapted to other modulations and sequences. Furthermore, is the new platform frequency and time locked to GPS. Thus the frequency accuracy is better than 5 mHz.
