I have been using the time-sync program Dimension 4, on the computers I use to run WSPR-X. Recently a Windows 7 machine showed signs of needing replacement and I backed up my files to a USB Hard Drive. To my dismay, when I checked the integrity of the Backup files, I received a message indicating that the Backup had failed because of a time-sync mismatch. A couple of days ago I bought a new machine running Windows 8. When I attempted to set up a Home Network to transfer data from the old Win7 machine to the new Win8 machine via a Wireless Network, I came across a message indicating that, for security reasons, I needed to use the time server at "time.windows.com". Disabling the Dimension 4 program on the Win7 machine and switching back to time.windows.com on it, let me proceed with the data transfer.
I have not seen a reference to this situation before and thought others might like to know about it.
